The goal of Oracle Charter School’s Mentoring Program is to develop strong relationships between Oracle students and supportive adults in the greater Buffalo community, develop social skills, cultivate cultural awareness, provide enriching academic experiences, and expose students to relevant experiences in the workplace.
Ultimately Oracle Charter School mentors participate within the school’s mission to ensure that all students; maximize their potential and become responsible citizens and capable college students, able to meet life’s challenges and succeed!
Oracle Charter School’s Mentoring Program was established in 2008. Our goal for the 2008-2009 school year is to increase the ranks of our mentors to include responsible adults who:
  • Possess a teachable skill;
  • Are community-minded, ambitious, and career oriented;
  • Promote the mission of Oracle Charter School; and
  • Are committed to work with Oracle students for a full calendar year
Prospective mentors must be able to commit to two meetings per month with Oracle students and contribute to the development of a monthly calendar of group and individual sessions that are designed to increase students’ social and academic skills. Sessions may include academic tutoring, college preparation, dining etiquette, management of personal finances, etc. Mentors will help facilitate the growth of the program based on their areas of expertise and the students’ areas of need and interest.
