Oracle Charter School students to turn school into multimedia installation on January 20January 10, 2011BUFFALO, NY – Oracle Charter School, in collaboration with Squeaky Wheel media arts center, will transform the school into a multimedia installation with a presentation entitled "8:8:8 in II Movements." The title is a play on the school's address at 888 Delaware Avenue and the the fact that the presentation will take place in "two movements". When: Thursday, January 20, 2011, 7:00 p.m. Where: Oracle Charter School, 888 Delaware Avenue (in the Goodyear Mansion near the corner of Bryant and Delaware) The first movement will be a montage of canvas, digital video, and surround sound highlighted by a "Digital Quilted Wall" which will focus on the challenges 21st century Buffalo students perceive through their "3rd Eyes." The second movement will include proposed solutions to the problems addressed in the first movement. “The installation is intended to demonstrate Oracle's unique approach to promoting individual student achievement through our integrated arts and technology programs,” said Head of School Julie Jackson-Forsberg. "Students from our Arts and Multimedia Arts Classes have taken stock video footage created by Squeaky Wheel artists and used it to create films, documentaries, and artist profiles, as well as their own soundtracks." Classes in the Arts and Multimedia program at Oracle Charter School are student led; program teachers are Eric Crittenden, Brandon Williamson, and Dea Denison. Oracle Charter School is located at 888 Delaware Avenue in a turn-of-the-century, E. B. Green-designed mansion. The school has a total enrollment of more than 350 students in grades 9-12.
