Oracle Charter School holds annual enrollment lottery
Buffalo, NY—Just like the opening of the spring blooms and the color of green returning to our area, the annual enrollment lottery has happened at Oracle Charter School. Charter schools are required to enroll students through a blind lottery. Each year in early April, interested students wait with hope to see if their name is drawn in the lottery, giving them admission to their chosen charter school. Oracle Charter School’s lottery was held on April 5, 2012. An independent party conducts the lottery each year for Oracle, in order to ensure its integrity. Representatives from the League of Women Voters of Buffalo Niagara conducted this year’s lottery for school. The lucky students, whose names were drawn for acceptance to Oracle for the 2012-2013 school year, can expect to receive confirmation letters from the school by mid-late April. Oracle Charter School is a public high school located at 888 Delaware Avenue in a turn-of-the-century, E. B. Green-designed mansion. The school, whose mission is college prep, has a total enrollment of approximately 350 students in grades 9-12. More than 50 faculty and staff are employed at the school. Class sizes are 22 students or fewer. 90% of Oracle’s 2011 graduates were accepted into college. For more information on Oracle Charter School and its programs call 362-3188.
