— John Ashwood, head of school at Oracle Charter School, announced the kickoff last week of the school’s Leader-to-Leader Speaker Series.
Oracle created The Leader-to-Leader Speaker Series to recognize and develop leadership skills in their students.

— On Thursday, December 1, Mr. Jamel Perkins came to talk at Oracle’s inaugural meeting of the Leaders to Leaders speaker series. His experiences served as powerful connectors to students who reflected on how his life story could help them establish and reach their own goals.

— Oracle Charter School held a special Open House for 7th and 8th graders on Saturday, Nov 19th. The Open House was special because it didn't just offer tours of the school. Students participated in hands-on projects including making music in the MacLab, extracting DNA from strawberries, calculating the calories in nuts and other cool stuff!

— Oracle Charter School proudly welcomed a group of high-level educators from the Ukraine, who made a special visit to their school last week, announced Head of School, John Ashwood.
The visit was made possible through a special arrangement with the International Institute of Buffalo and the Open World Leadership Center. The visiting educators are selected by their country to come to the United States to explore best practices in education.

As educators, when we see these kinds of issues, it’s our job to intervene as quickly as possible. In past years, we’ve done so by dedicating significant resources after the start of school. However, this year, we decided to take a more proactive approach to the situation, launching Oracle’s first-ever Freshman Summer Academy.

BUFFALO, NY – Oracle Charter School graduates its first literacy and math program for incoming Freshman in a proactive program with the motto, "Author your own learning". The program was designed to get students ready for high school curriculum by identifying and giving them strategies to process information that they read.

- Buffalo State College partners with Oracle Charter School in the “Buffalo State Challenge”

— The Challenge is a unique partnership between Buffalo State College and Oracle Charter School designed to provide aspiring students with a unique opportunity to gain admission to the college. The Challenge partnership is currently offered only to Oracle Charter School and McKinley High School.
- Oracle Charter School students to turn school into multimedia installation on January 20

— Oracle Charter School, in collaboration with Squeaky Wheel media arts center, will transform the school into a multimedia installation with a presentation entitled "8:8:8 in II Movements." The title is a play on the school's address at 888 Delaware Avenue and the the fact that the presentation will take place in "two movements".

- Oracle to Participate in Buffalo’s Annual Garden Walk

— Oracle Charter School is participating in this year’s Buffalo’s Garden Walk. The garden, which is currently maintained by staff as well as the school’s Outdoor Club, features a variety of perennials, including lilies; black eyed Susans; and butterfly bushes.
