Graduation Portfolio

As a graduation requirement, all senior students work with their content-area teachers and Advisors to construct a graduation portfolio that reflects the student’s academic growth throughout his or her six years at Oracle Charter School and provides evidence of the student’s future planning. Most materials included in the student’s graduation portfolio have been previously assessed by teachers. However, some material included therein may be original.

Such original material may include a college admissions essay, a resume, and a self-reflective essay.

As a requirement of the graduation portfolio, each student must include an admissions letter from an accredited two or four-year college.

Community Service Requirement

Students are required to perform a minimum of 20 community service hours per academic year as a condition for their graduation. Students are able to choose their own community service opportunities and submit community service forms signed by a volunteer supervisor.

Students prepare a written assessment of their community service experiences for inclusion in their graduation portfolios.

Internships

Also part of Oracle Charter School’s graduation requirements, students participate in a formal internship program during which they will be required to work two days per week. Each senior level student has the opportunity to experience one or more workplace environments of interest to that student. A self-reflective essay detailing the internship experience and the value of such in relation to the student’s future plans is included in each student’s graduation portfolio.
